The diseases of plants, animals and human beings are the serious threat to human life. Indiscriminate use of pesticides and antibiotics, climate change, lifestyle change and other environmental pollutants are some of the reasons for the spread of diseases. Therefore, management of these diseases has become one of the major challenges to the researchers, farmers and the doctors. Although, tremendous progress has been done and millions of dollars are spent on disease management every year in the world, still disease management stands as a significant milestone in human welfare. In view of this, the faculty members from the Departments of Biological Sciences and Chemical Sciences have decided to organize this International conference at Gulbarga University, Kalaburagi during 21st to 23rd November, 2017 and create a platform for bringing different ideas of disease management together.
Gulbarga University was established on 10th September 1980 and caters to the needs of higher education through teaching, research and extension activities in Hyderabad Karnataka region. The University is situated in the north eastern part of Karnataka and has the jurisdiction over four Districts such as, Kalaburagi, Bidar, Raichur and Yadgir. It is an affiliating University having over 427 affiliated colleges and 37 Post Graduate Departments under five faculties offering Undergraduate, Post Graduate and research degrees. As per web of science records, the current H index of Gulbarga University is 41 and the citation index is 9.12.
Hyderabad Karnataka Region Development Board, Kalaburagi
By amendment to the constitution of India, Article 371(j) was created by the UPA Government in 2013 due to the efforts of the Union Minister for Railways Dr. Mallikarjun Kharge, currently M.P and the HKRDB was set up by the HKRDB order 2013 on 06/11/2013 by the state government under the chief Minister Sri. Siddaramaiah.
The Details of the Board are as follows:
Establishment: The Hyderabad Karnataka Region Development Board was established on 06.11.2013.
Jurisdiction: The jurisdiction of the Board is spread over 40 assembly constituencies (after the recent delimitation of constituencies) of Bidar, Bellary, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur and Yadgir districts.
The Departments of Biological Sciences like Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Biotechno- logy, Microbiology, environmental Sciences and Chemicals Sciences were well established on the campus and have enormous contributions in the field of disease management. Majority of faculty members are specialized in the proposed theme areas and actively engaged in teaching and research activities.
